Today was my first day of classes at Mount Royal. It's really different from UTM and I'm not sure which is better yet.

As some of you may know, I graduated from UTM in June. This year I'm going to Mount Royal University. Today I did a trial run of the buses, making sure I knew how to get to school for the first day. Here's a summary of my conclusions.

Went in today to have the cyst in my neck removed. The surgeon, after I was already there and changed, said he wanted to send me for an ultrasound instead of doing the surgery, but I told him I wanted it done today. So, they froze me up and got to work. An hour later and I was all done. I now have a new scar tacked on to the old one. I'm on two kinds of antibiotics, which are HUGE, and painkillers and I go back in 10 days to have the stitches taken out.

The surgery itself went fine. They burned out a lot of it though, and I really could have gone my whole life without knowing what my own flesh burning smells like. For the record, not good. It was also really weird to be awake while everything was going on, since I could hear it and feel pressure and tugging, especially when they were closing me up.

Right now I look like I was attacked by a vampire, since I have bandages on the side of my neck, and the freezing is starting to wear off so the pain's kicking in, but at least it's finally done. Hopefully this is the last time.

EDIT: Ewwwwwwwwww! Dried blood in my hair! Why do these surgeons never clean up after themselves? Last time I spent two days with half my face caked in blood before I went home and finally saw a mirror. At least this time I wasn't wandering around the hospital looking like something out of a horror movie. Just the entire back of my neck covered in dried blood. Once again, ewwwwww!

Also, the lightning storm going on right now is really pretty!

Wow. I haven't updated since November. I suck. Well, things are going pretty good. Christmas was really nice. Had lots of fun being back home. I got a new camera from Grandma and Dad gave me money for a Wii. I bought myself EA Sport Active and have been using it everyday. It's a really good workout. I felt so sore after the first time I used it, but I'm getting used to it now.

In other news, Mom's house is currently demolished. She's having it re-done into two houses. This has been years coming, so it's nice to finally see some progress. So far the old house is gone and I think Mom said they had the new foundation in. It should be done before I finish school, so I'll come back to a brand new house! With insulation! I swear, that's the best part of this. Now I won't freeze my ass off in winter.

Speaking of school, I'm in my final semester. As long as I pass all my classes, I'm going to be graduating in June. It'll be nice to finally have it done, but it's still going to be weird going back home after living away for five years. Next year I'm hopefully going to be going to Mount Royal for my Child and Youth Care Counseling Diploma. It seems like a good program and is pretty much exactly what I want to do (work with kids in a school setting).

And that's pretty much my life. I've barely done any writing since NaNo, but I'm hoping I'm going to have a chance to finish the story up over reading week. Then I can edit it and I'll start posting it here.

Oh! I almost forgot. Not sure if anyone reading this knows, but I make custom My Little Ponies. I kinda have a lot of them, so I need to sell them. So... here's my deviantART journal explaining all about how to buy them. I also take commissions, if anyone would like their own, personal pony. For either, you can contact me through deviantART (if you have an account), leave a comment here, or PM me.

Wrote a final and handed in a paper today. Now I just have exam week left. I have one on the 9th, one on the 12th, and then I'm home on the 12th.

On the NaNo front, I'm really going to have to push out some writing to make the deadline. But I'm hopeful!

34912 / 50000 words. 70% done!

So, I've been exploring around the My Little Pony world and I've found two ponies I want.

The Junko Mizuno Designer MLP

and the Blue Collector Art Pony

They're beautiful and I wants them. Unfortunately, while the ponies themselves aren't that expensive ($16 and $9) the shipping is killing me. It would be $22 to have them shipped to Canada.  There are times I wish I lived in the US, if only so it wouldn't cost an arm and a leg just to get a package delivered. Ah well. I have a birthday coming up, so maybe I'll get enough money to pay for shipping.

Yay! Nutrisystem is working really well. I've lost 5lb in the past just-over-a-week. I'm pretty sure that's mostly from not drinking pop, but still. Yay!

In other news, still no job. I'm starting to get pretty depressed about it. At least I don't own any money on my credit card, so I don't have to worry about paying that off. It'd still be nice to have a job though. I'd take almost anything at this point, even fast food.

Woke up today to find cat vomit on the stairs. Joy. Turns out one of them ate my headphones. Guess it didn't agree with them. On the plus side, it gave me an excuse to buy new headphones. London Drugs had some SkullCandy ones on sale. I've been wanting those for a while now, so this was a good chance to get them.

Today I also went to the job fair. It was okay. Huge line, but it moved quickly. There weren't many places there that I'd work for. A lot of outdoor work. But I put in my resume at a few. Hopefully I'll get a few interviews and get a job soon. I have a grand total of $1.11 to my name, so...yeah. Need a job.

So, back in Calgary. Been here for a week now, but I've been busy unpacking and relaxing. The move went well. All our stuff got thrown out or stored. Morgan and I are going to be living together next year in a two-person place, which will be really nice. No more random roommates who I'll want to kill!

Right now I'm housesitting for dad. I have the house all to myself! Which is great, until I watch horror movies and can't sleep. I also just completed my standard first aid course. I am now certified to save lives. Hopefully I'll never need any of it.

And I've restarted Nutrisystem. I just got my first order today. Now, I know the program's good, but I really hate that they substitute stuff. All of my desserts/snacks got cut out and replaced with 25 bags of Nacho Crisps, which I'm not super fond of. Luckily, they're sending the stuff I actually ordered free of charge. But, if anyone wants Nacho Crips or Chicken Noodle soup, just ask. I've got plenty. Now I just have to put it all away.

Oh, and I have a dreamwidth account.  allykatb It's pretty much exactly the same as everything on lj. Actually, it is exactly the same. Everything'll be crossposted for now.

Anyways, that's all in my life. Hopefully I'll be getting a job soon and then I'll have money to actually do stuff.

Today I turned 21! I'm finally legal everywhere.

It was a pretty good birthday. Yesterday I went out with Grandma, Mom and Aunt Jenny for brunch. We went to the Deane House and it was kind of a let down. They had gotten rid of all the historical stuff, which was really sad. Now it's just another restaurant. I wonder what the ghosts think about that?

Toady I went to dinner with Dad and Mom. We went to the only Jack Astor's in Calgary and I got to have the wonderful Blue Raspberry Lemonade. I love that stuff!

In terms of presents, I got a new wallet and a shirt from Grandma and $50 from Jenny.

Dad gave me a PSP!!!!! It came with two games that I don't want, so I'm going to go trade them in tomorrow.

Mom gave me a leather coat, a novel written by the head of the criminology department at Simon Fraser, a Sephiroth action figure, and $210 American for when I go to Torrid!!

Also, I leave for Mississauga on Wednesday. I managed to get an appointment for a laser hair removal consultation on Thursday, which is great. Going to the zoo on Friday, Buffalo on Saturday and moving into rez on Monday. It's going to be a busy few days.

Got it all worked out. The balance was because the site hadn't been changed yet and because I got into another course. That's okay. I wasn't happy with that explanation (since I live in a world where these sorts of things should be able to be updated instantly), but I can live with it.

The refusal from the course doesn't have as good an explanation. Apparently priority is given to Specialists, not Majors. Okay, that I can understand. What I can't understand is that basically they initially list the enrollment cap at 30 and then drop it down to 15 later, picking only 15 Specialists and telling everyone else, "tough luck". Because of that I'm going to be short half a credit on my Crime, Law and Deviance major. I'm first on the waitlist for another course that can replace it, but still. If I hadn't been smart enough to get on the waitlist as soon as I saw that I had been refused, I'd be screwed.

So I just finished my second day at work with the new system. That's right, we're all digital now. It's pretty cool, once we figured everything out.

The new camera is tiny. The old one took two hands and a shoulder to move. This new one just slides around with a finger. Okay, so there's the pistol grip, which needs two hands, but still. The actual moving is really easy. Though, it's so easy that it takes some getting used to. I try to move a smidge and I end up moving a slide. But, I'm getting used to it. We do get to do cool angles though. We did a practice shoot where I was peaking out of the corner, like "sup, bitches?" It was great!

The new monitor for the camera is kind of annoying. It only shows the picture for 10 seconds. Maybe less. But, there's no limit on how many photos we can take, unlike the old system, which only let you take 24.

The sales computer is the newest, biggest, awesomest change. We can do enhancements! Black and white, sepia, other tones, text, graphics, ZOOM AND CROP!!!!!! Can you guess which I'm most excited about? Yeah, no more slightly off centre, no more background showing. It's going to be great!

The POS, now called SAS is very annoying if you make a mistake. There's no back function. And you can't cancel. You're left in limbo unless you can find a way to finish a transaction without charging anything. It sucks. Also, since we only JUST changed over, we still have to do deliveries for film and returns and such. And the computer doesn't like it. Doesn't like it at all. It freezes and then we have to restart, which is a big no-no. Hopefully in a few weeks, when all the film stuff is gone, things will be easier. Though, I'll be gone by then.

Oh, yeah. 8 more work days left!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only 8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!! HUZZAH!!!

Yeah, I'm kinda excited.

Oh, I forgot. On top of the enhancements, we can do 10x30 portraits and 3-ups and 9-ups. I want a 10x30. One of the pictures from the practice shoot came out really well, and I'm thinking of ordering it in that size. Or I might wait until Mom, Grandma and I go for a shoot and order a 3-up (3 photos in a row) then. I'm not sure. There are so many choices now. It's exciting!

So, anyway. That's the new digital stuff.  I get to play for 8 more days and then I'm done. Then I get to pack to move back. I'm leaving on the 3rd, so all my Ontario friends, I'll see you then! And my Alberta ones, I'll have to see you some time before I leave.

Mom and I have finally started cleaning out the house to get ready to rebuild. We went through my baby stuff today and I found the first story I ever wrote (with Mom's help) at age 5. And it's illustrated!

And they all lived happily ever after!
