We've had an entry for our contest! And a bunch more people have expressed interest. So, yay!!!

Anyway, this is just an update to say that [profile] morgie39 and I have expanded our contest. We are now also accepting comics as entries. So, here is the new blurb on it, with the new stuff in bold.

Okay, so since we haven't had any entries on deviantART yet, I decided to put this up here too. It mainly applies to people who have deviantART accounts, but even if you don't please feel free to enter. I can link to your livejournal from there, so you still have a chance.

[profile] morgie39 and I have decided to do a joint contest.

This contest is inspired by one of the "modern art" videos that played on the tv in the one of the buildings on campus. It was a series of descriptions of characters that slowly got more and more complex as they progressed. The challenge, for those of you who enter, is to use these characters in a story (writing or comic). There are five groups you can pick from. Which ever group you pick, you must use all the characters that are mentioned.

The story itself can be anything you want. Any genre, any rating (but keep it tasteful), any style. The only limitation is that you try to keep it around 2500 words for writing. We don’t want to limit you too much, but we also don’t want to have to read through novels. There is no limit on comic entries, but please keep it reasonable.

When you submit your entry, please link to one of our journals in your description, and either note one of us or add a link in the journal comments. Your entry will be judged pretty much just on creativity.

All entries are due November 30th, 2007

Now, for the reason you read through everything else,

The PRIZES
There will be three prizes
1st Prize – 3 Month Subscription, 2 4x6 prints of your choice (one from each of us)
2nd Prize – 1 Month Subscription, 2 4x6 prints of your choice (one from each of us)
3rd Prize – 2 prints 4x6 prints of your choice (one from each of us)

All winners will be featured in our journals. We will go through your work and pick out some favourites. Link to all the entries will also be provided in our journals.

And finally, the groups

Group A
a terrifying invisible alien
a reformed gunslinger
a dangerous psychopath
the citizens of earth

Group B
a 2000-year-old vampire
an inept thief
an ambitious and pompous plastic surgeon
a scheming army official

Group C
time travellers from the future
a hit squad of rooky cops
a murderous priest
a corrupt insane asylum manager

Group D
an elderly horror film star
two high school students
a sexually aggressive woman
an opera obsessed mafia don

Group E
a suave bank robber
a young medical student
a ruthless gang of escaped prisoners
two rival LA detectives

Yes, we are serious. These were actually part of the “modern art” piece.

Have fun with this and go wild! Anyone can join, so tell all your friends.
