So, I had to work on Monday. I normally work at a Tim Horton's in a mall, but on Monday I was sent to a different Tim Horton's. Now, I've only been working their for the summer, so I don't know everything. One of the things I don't know is drive through or closing procedures, which I would have to do at this other store. But, whatever. My manager says they'll teach me.

So I go over. Everything is going fine until 2:30 (I got there at 12:30) when the one other person working there says she's leaving. I'm now going to be there alone, doing something I've never done before. Great.

I was okay until I got a rush. I had five cars and a line inside and no one to help me. I got everyone inside out and was dealing with a car when I had it.

This guy was okay at first, but, when I handed him his coffee he got all upset because I hadn't filled it all the way to the top. Okay, no problem, it happens a lot since the cup will look full from above, but it won't be. So, I take it back and fill it up. I've given it back to him and am taking the next order when he starts yelling at me. I ask him to wait a moment, but he refuses, so I ask the woman I was talking to to hold on. Turns out the guy thinks his coffee isn't hot. Now, I burned myself on this, even offered to double cup since it was so hot. But it's not hot enough. This was my breaking point. I'd been rushing around for hours trying to get everyone through, trying to figure out how to work the drive through, and trying to figure out how I was supposed to have a break. I threw the guys coffee in the sink and poured him a new cup, dumping coffee all over myself in the process, shoved it at him, slammed the window shut and started crying.

I eventually called my mom and she came to help me and later helped me close.

I know I might have overreacted, but I just don't understand why I was the only person on for the entire afternoon and evening. I couldn't take a break, since I couldn't leave the store empty and I had no idea what I was doing at closing.

Today was much better,
When we repeat your order to you, it’s for a reason. This woman ordered 4 large coffees and my runner asked her twice what she wanted in them (verifying what I had on my register). Both times she said that it was right. When he handed them to her, she said that they were all wrong. If they were wrong, why didn't you say so?!

He also had to deal with a guy who brought his black coffee back saying it was supposed to be a double-double. No problem, my runner says he'll change it. The guy then proceeds to tell him that "that means there's two cream and two sugar". Uh, yeah. We know. We work here. The guy told my runner what a double-double was about three more times while it was being made. He wasn't satisfied until he'd tried it, when he finally admitted that it was right.

On the bright side, there's only 18 more days that I can possibly work on until I quit! Yay!
