I have an infection in my neck! Ahhhhhh!

Okay, so it's not that big of a deal. I just have to take some pills for a while and it'll all go away. But still. It's gross! It's all oozy and stuff. Ewwwww!

I blame the doctor who wouldn't change his gloves.

I only had to stay one night in hospital. They put a drain in my neck and sent me home with it. I had to empty it twice. It was really gross. I went back to the hospital today and got the drain out. It was the weirdest feeling ever. I had a lot of problems this morning. My appointment was for 10am with Dr Matthews. I got a phone call at 9:10 saying that I was supposed to be there at 8:30 for an appointment with some other doctor. Then, when we finally got it all sorted out, Dad and the doctor got into an argument.

Dad: Before you take that out, can you change your gloves? I just noticed that you touched the door handle and coughed onto the back of your hand.
Dr: Oh, it's not a sterile procedure.
Dad: What?!
Dr: Yes, none of this is sterilized.
Dad: Well, that's why there are so many hospital infections.
Dr: Are you some sort of expert on this?
Dad: I'm an informed patient.

The doctor never did change his gloves. I had a HOLE in my neck and he didn't see a need to sterilize anything? The good news is that I think every thing's okay, but still. If the patient asks you to change gloves, it's probably a good idea (and easier) to just do it.

Other than that I've been doing okay since coming home. I threw up yesterday, but luckily I hadn't eaten anything at that point. I ache everywhere on my upper body, but that's to be expected. I got a look at the back of my neck today and the cut is huge. It goes all the way across my neck and is black with stitches. The only other bad thing with my neck right now is that they had to shave some of my hair. Then, they didn't bother to take away the hair they had shaved, so it got all matted with my other hair. Mom spent an hour and a half last night brushing my hair and cleaning out the dried and matted blood. I feel so much better now, but it's still weird to reach back and feel shaved hair.

That's pretty much everything that's happened lately. I'm spending most of my time sleeping and relaxing in the recliner. So, I'm going to go back to sleep now.

So, I have surgery in 38 hours. Yay? I wasn't worried before, and I'm still not that worried, which worries me. If that makes any sense. I'm going to get to spend 3-5 days in hospital and they have still yet to tell me how long I'll have to be off work. Luckily I don't work tomorrow. Though, I told y co-worker that if I was scheduled to be in, I'd call in sick. Anyway, I had my pre-op on Thursday, which was next to useless. Though, they did say I can't bring my laptop with me, so I'm getting Mom to smuggle it in so I can watch anime. And I have a million forms to read, all saying the same thing. But, I might get my own self-controlled pain killer thing. I can't remember the actual name for it. Pain killer thing works for me. And I don't have to wear a hospital gown the entire time.

So, due to the surgery, I'm going to be gone for a while after tomorrow. If anyone needs to talk to me e-mail me then, or send a message with Mom (not that anyone other than Jackie reads this, but oh well).

Hopefully when I get back online I'll have my annoying alien eggs out.

I love the CSI that's on tonight. It makes fun of forensic shows. Grissom's great line "There are too many forensic shows on" and when Nick and Hodges are discussing how, when they splice footage, a 6 hour test takes 3 minutes. Ah, this episode makes me laugh.

Update on the x-rays, I have a "narrowing of the somethingorother". It's basically a cartilage injury and if it starts locking up or giving out I have to go for an MRI. Other than that, nothing's wrong. Yay!

I've also been offered a job at the YMCA Rocky Mountain Camp in the kitchen, if I want it. I also have an interview with another summer camp to schedual. Apparently I make quite an impression in my cover letters and interviews. Go me!
